Here Comes The…Sun?

It’s no secret that the biggest challenge of planning an outdoor ceremony is that mountain weather can be extremely unpredictable, going from sunny to raining within minutes. To avoid mother nature spoiling your big day, you’ll want to plan ahead and have a few options on standby, just in case. Whether you’re looking at springtime or summer nuptials, it’s important to have umbrellas on hand (the clear variety are great for photos).

Even with an ideal forecast, it’s always best to plan ahead so you’ll be prepared for anything nature brings as you walk down the aisle! Having a backup venue (as offered by Cornerstone for couples booking both wedding and reception with us) will give you peace of mind should the weather decide to change at the last minute.

Heat

Summer in the Rockies is a gorgeous time full of long hours of sunlight and warm temperatures. While there’s nothing better than soaking up some warm rays alongside breathtaking views, it’s important to remember that your guests may not be as appreciated of the heat when wearing more formal attire in an exposed area. Hot days can be fatiguing for everyone, and prolonged exposure to the sun can lead to sunburns without the proper precautions. Avoid these kinds of issues by having plenty of sunscreen and water available on hand, and remind everyone to keep safe throughout the day. You’ll also want to think of your guests’ comfort by making sure any metal chairs are covered in fabric, and may want to have fans on hand for people to cool down before and after.

Permits

The Town of Canmore requires that outdoor ceremonies and weddings obtain a permit for all parks. If you’re planning on hosting a ceremony within the town, you’ll want to ensure you obtain a permit early on.
